Newfoundland and Labrador Operations

Juan Marino has been appointed to the role of Maintenance Plannerfor the Long Harbour Processing Plant. Marino, a mechanical engineer, joins Vale from Wabush Mines, where he worked for the past six years, after immigrating to Canada from Venezuela. He reports to Richard H. White, reliability and maintenance manager, Long Harbour Processing Plant.

Georgina Allen has been appointed to the position of mill clerk for Labrador Operations. Allen has had work experience at the College of the North Atlantic and as a court officer, among others. She reports to Erik Sheppard, mill manager.

Elena Andrew has been appointed to the position of Innu employment coordinator with the Aboriginal Affairs Department. Prior to joining Vale, Andrew worked at the Innu Development Partnership for six years. She is a graduate of Lakehead University, with a degree in aboriginal studies and sociology, and has a master’s certificate in project management from St. Mary’s University. She reports to Sophie Ford, aboriginal affairs supervisor.

Martin Gelinas has been appointed to the position of reliability engineer for the mine maintenance department, Labrador Operations. Gelinas holds professional engineering degrees in both mechanical and mining engineering from Laval University and has five years’ experience in the mechanical and mining fields. He reports to Stan McCarthy, mine maintenance superintendent.
