The largest mining complex in our company’s history, the S11D Eliezer Batista Complex, celebrated one year of operation this past December 17. Integrating productivity with respect for people, and technology with environmental intelligence, the S11D Eliezer Batista Complex, is increasing production in the state of Pará to 230 million metric tons per year, and reducing diesel consumption thanks to the implementation a truckless system.

The truckless system replaces traditional off-highway trucks for conveyor belts and will reduce diesel consumption by a whopping 70 per cent. We will also be realizing water consumption reductions by an astounding 93 per cent in Dry Processing by using iron ore’s own natural moisture. This initiative also allows us to eliminate tailings dams. Investments in innovation, combined with Vale’s experience, enables a more efficient operation with less impact on the environment.
