Welcome to our quarterly employee announcements, which cover Base Metals’ North Atlantic Operations. This quarter we have announcements to share from every location in Canada. Read on!

North Atlantic

Brittney Price is our new manager of Corporate Affairs, Communications and Sustainability in North Atlantic. Brittney’s responsibilities include supporting the transformation work underway in the operations and improving Vale’s social performance with stakeholders. 

Newfoundland and Labrador

Matt Hynes will transition to the role of superintendent of Environment for Vale’s Labrador Operations. In this capacity, Matt maintains responsibility for the Environment portfolio at Voisey’s Bay and the leadership of the onsite Environment team; he continues to be a principal Operations interface with the VBME Project.

Long Harbour 

We are pleased to announce the promotion of Jennifer Kieley as Operational Technology superintendent for Vale Newfoundland and Labrador.

Carl O’Brien will transition to acting Health, Safety and Risk manager for Long Harbour Operations. In this role, Carl will be responsible for leading the Health, Safety and Emergency Response Teams at the Long Harbour Processing Plant. 

Voisey’s Bay 

Sheldon Russell has been promoted to Business Support superintendent, after joining the company in 2018 as a senior cost and contracts analyst in Voisey’s Bay. 

Sara Butler has started as a chemist. 

Jonathan Kehoe has started as a senior chemist. 

Brittany Baldwin is our new HSE analyst. Brittany’s responsibilities include managing health and safety data entry, oversight catering contractor oversight.

Ontario

Sheridan Park

Floyd Varley is our new principal engineer, Mining, based out of Sheridan Park. Floyd’s responsibilities include developing normative standards for managing integrity of critical underground assets and supporting the implementation and the overall risk reduction effort.

Heather Dobson is our new senior process Safety Specialist. Heather’s responsibilities include supporting the Base Metals business in establishing and implementing the elements of Process Safety Management across our operating assets. 

Mariela Zuniga is our new specialist, Comminution in Mineral Processing with responsibilities that include design and optimization of comminution circuits and throughput prediction using geometallurgy.

Muhammed Al Kayyali is our new sr. contracts specialist with responsibilities that include overview contract performance and governance (PMO) for capital projects. 

Punit Dahiya is our new sr. analyst – Reliability COE with responsibilities that include optimizing and standardizing reliability practices across Base Metals. 

Dervon Parchment is our new manager, Asset Integrity. 

Roland Sourour is our new Operations specialist with responsibilities that include the development and implementation of Operational Discipline across Base Metals along with supporting the plants on the implementation of Performance and Productivity solutions within smelting and refining operations. 

Denver Cowan is our new senior analyst. 

Rafael Introvini is our new Operations specialist. 

Sudbury 

After starting in a temporary position, Meagan Lawrence is now our new, full-time HRBP lead in Sudbury. Meagan’s responsibilities include providing Human Resources support for the Ontario Operations.

Marco Antonio Silva is our new Project Management officer. 

Tahir Jeddy is our new Power engineer for the Power Dept whose responsibilities include providing expert power system engineering design, technical guidance and support for assigned projects.
